Franklin Elementary School, Newton
October 2019
A group of parents and staff, in collaboration with Newton Parks and Recreation and other city departments, have been working to improve the grounds of Franklin Elementary School. To date, we have identified several areas that need improvements that have already been addressed or will be fixed soon.
Our next project is completing a planting plan for the Franklin field. We have ideas for adding new trees to the field to provide welcome shade and erosion control. These new trees will be watered by the underground sprinkler system that we hope will be repaired by next spring.
In addition, a new stone dust path will connect the back entrance to the field to the school driveway. Benches along the path will provide a nice place to sit.
Thanks for your help!
